The Non-functional GPS Sar Banda made functional by Qafela NGO with support from the Worthy Chief Secretary, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Secretary E&SED, MD E&SEF, Project Manager Outsourced Schools of ESEF and Deputy Commissioner Buner.

 As a remarkable achievement, QAFELA NGO, with support from  the Worthy Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Secretary E&SED, MD E&SEF, Project Manager Outsourced Schools of ESEF and Deputy Commissioner Buner, has successfully revived a previously non-functional school in a remote and far-flung area of Village Sar Banda in Tehsil Gadezai of District Buner, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Within just one month of QAFELA’s intervention, student enrolment increased dramatically from only 5 students to 87 students, reflecting the community’s renewed confidence in the school and the growing demand for quality education.

Before QAFELA’s intervention, the school was not functioning effectively and had very limited enrolment. Recognizing the importance of education for children living in remote communities, the QAFELA team took up the challenge and worked tirelessly to make the school functional. The team faced significant challenges due to the school’s difficult location. The school is situated in a remote area, approximately 4 kilometres from the main road, with access largely through a difficult pedestrian route. Despite these challenges, the QAFELA team remained committed and worked continuously to restore the school and bring children back into the classrooms.

The rapid increase in enrolment from 5 to 87 students in only one month is a significant achievement and demonstrates the positive impact of QAFELA’s efforts. The school has now become an important source of hope for children and families in the surrounding community.

Alongside the revival of educational activities, renovation work at the school has also been initiated. The QAFELA team is closely monitoring the activities on a daily basis to ensure that the work is carried out properly, transparently, and according to the required standards.

QAFELA’s efforts were further strengthened through the support and cooperation of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. On QAFELA’s request, and on the directivess of Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Shahab Ali Shah, Secretary Education Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Muhammad Khalid, Managing Director ESEF Mr. Qaiser Alam, Project Manager ESEF Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Shafqat Ul Mulk, and the Deputy Commissioner Buner, furniture was provided to the school to improve the learning environment for students. Qafela Team in Buner arranged mules for carrying the furniture to the school.

This initiative is a powerful example of how committed efforts, community engagement, government support, and continuous monitoring can transform a non-functional school into a vibrant center of learning. The journey from 5 enrolled students to 87 students in just one month is not merely a numerical achievement—it represents 87 opportunities for education, hope, and a better future.
