Severe flooding triggered by torrential rains and flash floods has devastated communities and their livelihoods across Gilgit-Baltistan and the Upper and Lower Districts of Chitral in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, leaving thousands of people without shelter, food, clean drinking water, healthcare, and livelihoods. Homes have been washed away, roads and bridges destroyed, schools and health facilities damaged, livestock destroyed and agricultural lands submerged, isolating entire communities and placing the most vulnerable at serious risk.
Children, women, older persons, and people with disabilities are among those facing the greatest hardship. Without immediate humanitarian assistance, affected families will be left alone in the struggle to meet their most basic needs.
QAFELA’s Emergency Response
QAFELA is mobilizing an immediate humanitarian response to provide life-saving assistance and early recovery support to the most vulnerable flood-affected families in close coordination with local authorities and community partners. However, Qafela team alone is not in the position to provide the support needed.
