PROJECT OVERVIEW

DRHC

QAFELA, in partnership with Falcon College of Nursing & Health Sciences, is implementing a landmark 10-year education initiative under an agreement with the Elementary & Secondary Education Foundation (ESEF), Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The project covers 31 Government Primary Schools 18 in District Swat and 13 in District Buner located in some of the province’s most underserved and remote communities.
With 24 of the 31 schools dedicated to girls’ education, the project places a strong emphasis on expanding educational opportunities for girls from disadvantaged families. It aims to increase school enrolment, improve the quality of primary education, and create safe, inclusive, and child-friendly learning environments where every child can reach its full potential.
Since its launch in March 2026, QAFELA has recruited qualified teaching and administrative staff, conducted professional capacity-building trainings, and implemented extensive community mobilization and enrolment campaigns. These efforts have already produced significant improvements in both student enrolment and the quality of education.
To date, the project has enrolled nearly 2588 students, representing an impressive 341% increase over the baseline enrolment at the time of handover. Of these, 2,140 students are enrolled in District Swat (1,259 girls and 881 boys) and 740 students in District Buner (492 girls and 248 boys), while enrolment campaign continues in the 05 remaining summer-zone schools.
Beyond improving access to education, the project is introducing learner cantered teaching approaches that foster creativity, critical thinking, confidence, and active participation. Through this initiative, QAFELA is helping strengthen the public education system in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while empowering children—particularly girls in remote and marginalized communities—with the knowledge and skills needed for a brighter future.
